BELIEFS

GOD

We believe in one God, who is eternally existent in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity. We believe God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He is limitless in power, knowledge, wisdom, love, and holiness. (Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 2:7, 3:22; Exodus 3:14, 6:2-3; Psalm 90:2, 115:1-4; Matthew 6:9, 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal second person of the trinity, who was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and is fully God, co-equal with the Father, but became fully man to save a lost world. We believe that Jesus lived a sinless human and willingly offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people, by being crucified on a cross. Three days later he rose from the grave demonstrating his power over sin and death. Jesus ascended into heaven and will return again one day to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 1:3-4; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Colossians 1:15-18; 1 Timothy 6:14-15)

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the eternal third person of the Trinity, co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ, and permanently indwells every believer at the moment of his or her faith in Jesus Christ, providing every believer with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. Through the Holy Spirit, every believer has been given spiritual gifts for the proclamation of the gospel and the edification of the church. (Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Galatians 2:19-20, 5:25; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13, 5:18)

The Bible

We believe the entire Bible is the God-breathed, inspired Word of God, and human authors were moved supernaturally by the Holy Spirit to write every word of Scripture. Because it is inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any error, and is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16, 1:13; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5)

Human Beings

We believe human beings are made in the likeness and spiritual image of God, to be like him in character. Humans are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all people are totally depraved, marred by disobedience toward God. At the point of creation, God created all humans as either male or female, and assigned this genetic identity into a person’s DNA, determined solely by God, at the moment of conception. Because all human life is given by God, known and formed by him in their mother’s womb, we believe all life, in the womb and outside of it, must be protected and treated with dignity and respect. We believe all humans have been created equal and should be treated as equals. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)

The Fall/Sin

We believe that mankind was created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is totally depraved and is incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through his own efforts. (Genesis 3; Mark 7:21-23; Romans 3:23, 5:12-19; Colossians 1:19-22)

Salvation

We believe that Salvation is a free gift, given solely though God’s sovereign choice. Salvation is not achieved by religious or spirituals works by mankind, but is solely made possible through the perfect life lived by Jesus Christ, his shed blood on the cross, and his resurrection from the dead. Therefore, salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. (Acts 4:8-12; Romans 5:1, 9:14-18; 10:9-10; Ephesians 1:3-14, 2:1-10; Colossians 1:19-22)

Eternal Security

We believe God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ; therefore the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot “lose” it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the believer. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security. (John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10,14; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

The Church

We believe the Church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the Church are those who have trusted, by faith, the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God by loving him and making him known to a lost world. (Matthew 16:17-19; Acts 2:42-47, 4:8-12)

Eternity

We believe mankind is created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence. (John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Corinthians 2:7-9)
